MONROE GARA2 AGRIGENTO

We’re facing game 3 on Thursday in Porto Empedocle, after two difficult games and a complicated playoff series, as predicted by coach Ramagli. After the victory (84-76) in game 1 on Saturday evening, on Monday Agrigento won the second game (75-83) after a match where Tezenis was constantly forced to chase behind on score. Down by sixteen points (32-48) at the start of the third quarter, Tezenis kept on the heels of Agrigento and almost caught them at 59-62. However in the fourth quarter Agrigento kept a clear head and won the game.
“There’s no doubt we are facing an opponent that is playing very well, probably better than us”. Alessandro Ramagli commented: “In the second period of game 1 we managed to limit the damage, but in game 2, our most serious error was not committing the fouls we could have used when Agrigento was getting away from us, which meant we didn’t break their pace and they were able to widen the gap. We must rediscover the cynicism and tough attitude we have demonstrated throughout the regular season. We must be constant in our game play, even when we are faced with such a confident team as this. What have I got from these two games? I’ve got a team I wouldn’t change for all the gold in the world. When we play our best game the match is ours. We made a mistake by letting Agrigento take the lead without using the weapons we know we have. These are ongoing battles and we have to know how to exploit the right moments. We must start again from the second quarters of these two games, we know it will be harder than we thought but we must not make the mistake of giving up and thinking we can’t do it. Today we were knocked down, but we’ll get back up and go to Sicily to win two games, not just one”.
